Welcome to Tongue Tech
Objective measurements assessing tongue functions for evidence-based diagnosis and rehabilitation
TPMD (by JMS) is one of the global reference systems for quantifying tongue strength, endurance, and symmetry across various health conditions including dysphagia, sleep-disordered breathing, orthodontics, and TMD.
- CE-marked
- 30,000+ devices in use
- 3.5M measurements
- Reimbursed by Japan’s national health insurance
Vision
We envision a healthcare landscape where tongue function is recognized as a fundamental determinant of breathing, swallowing, craniofacial development, posture, and long-term health.
By making tongue function measurable, understandable, and treatable, we aim to move from empirical observations to structured, traceable, and interdisciplinary care pathways.
Mission
Tongue Tech develops and distributes advanced medical instruments and digital technologies that enable objective assessment, monitoring, and improvement of tongue function.
By translating tongue dysfunctions into measurable clinical parameters, we empower professionals to deliver functional evidence-based, and outcome-oriented care.
Why objective measurement matters
Tongue dysfunctions play a critical role in multiple pathologies. The clinical assessment currently used is relevant and informative, but remains largely subjective.
The TPMD provides a standardized and reproducible method for measuring the strength, endurance & symmetry of the tongue and perioral muscles (lips & cheeks). These quantitative, reproducible, and traceable measurements enable clinicians to:
- Objectively assess baseline capacity
- Monitor progress over time
- Contribute to the development of reference data
- Justify and adjust rehabilitation strategies
- Improve pluri-disciplinary coordination
- Patients feel more reassured, are more motivated, and are more engaged in their treatment
Clinical Applications
TPMD is useful for a variety of clinical indication to optimize diagnosis, treatment planning, & follow-up.
- Dysphagia and other DYSfonctions
- Obstructive sleep apnea and snoring
- Malocclusions and orofacial anomalies
- Temporomandibular disorders
